Route Details

This week's weather forecast isn't looking amazing, but we don't let that stop us. Meeting at Leith Saddle at the top of the Northern Motorway, we'll head down Waitati Valley Road, onto the always muddy Pipeline Track, and onwards onto Rustlers Ridge. Taking a hard right at the intersection with the Burn Track, we'll carry on northwards until reaching the Swampy Ridge Track, which is always a highlight (yeah, right) of the 3 Peaks + 1 course. From here, it's back uphill to Rollinsons Road, past the assorted radio installations and onwards to the transmission tower, before the descent back to the start via the Leith Saddle Track. In total, we'll cover just under 13 km and around 565 m of climbing. It will definitely pay to dress warmly and bring a rain layer along with the usual head torch. Conditions are likely to be damp underfoot after the weekend's rain. Please post any transport requests in the comments. See you there! One of the biviest of biv runs in a while. Calf deep mud, goats peering out from the bushes, losing the trail and having to change plans on the fly. Great fun!
