Areas & Points of Interest
After last week's adventurous outing, I thought we'd try for some (hopefully) more runnable trails this week. Meeting beside the John McGlashan sports field on Cannington Road, we'll head into Ross Creek and Redwoods, before starting the climb up McGouns and the Old Pineapple track, the latter being the exception to this week's rule as, in parts, it's practically a drainage channel. From the top, we'll cross Pineapple and head down the Nicols Road track, taking a quick sidetrip to see the waterfall (our first of two), then onward to Leith Valley Road. Heading up Islay Street, we'll dip back into Ross Creek, pass the 2nd waterfall of the night, then round off the run with a short but technical side trail to Braeview Crescent, before looping back to the start. In total, we're looking at around 13 km and 565 m of climbing. Here's the planned route on Strava: https://www.strava.com/routes/3377117091462313674 As always, headlamps are required at this time of year. Hope to see you there!
