Areas & Points of Interest
It's back to the Peninsula this week, taking on some much loved trails. Meeting at the bottom of McTaggart Street in Company Bay, we'll head up the road and on to the farm track as far as Broad Bay. Dipping dipping down to the road for a short distance, we'll head back uphill on the Bacon Track before branching off onto the Smith-Larnach and Hunters House Routes all the way to Highcliff Road. Here we can see our main objection of Hereweka Harbour Cone, which we'll reach via Coffee Rock. It's a sustained and strenuous climb up Hereweka, but the reward is the view from the top. Heading back down, we'll head along Highcliff Road for a short distance back to the Hunters House Route, before veering left across the valley for to the top of the Camp Track and the descent back to the start. We're looking at around 13.4 km and 675 m of (grunty) climbing this week. As the route crosses farmland, dogs are unfortunately not allowed. The forecast looks excellent, and remember those head torches. See you there!

View on Strava ↗And there actually we're stars out despite this afternoon's cloud. One of the larger groups in a while and spirits were high despite my piss poor navigation with multiple wrong turns. It was probably a good idea to change the 2nd half of the route
