Areas & Points of Interest
Daniel's in the lead this week for one of his legendary Peninsula Runs. The rain looks like it'll be gone by Thursday and this is a Biv run not to be missed! Starting out from Broad Bay beach, we'll head straight up Camp Track, skit around the side of Larnach Castle and take in the stunning views over to Hereweka, then head across farmland to Highcliff Road. After couple of km on the road, we'll reach the Nyhon track heading towards Hoopers Inlet but before reaching the bottom we'll take a hard left and head back up the hill on the Rutherford Farm track to Coffee Rocks, then onwards for the grunty climb to the top of Hereweka Harbour Cone. Heading back downhill, we'll cross Highcliff Road a second time, then send it down Bacon Track to meet Te Awa Ōtākou for the short run along the harbourside shared path back to the start. All up, we should cover around 13 km and 730 m over vert. As we're crossing farms, unfortunately, dogs won't be able to join us this week. Transport offers and requests in the comments. See there!
