Trails
Okay, the weather last week was decidedly average! So, we’re starting once again from the Pineapple Track car park, in the vague hope more people make it there! Nah, Chantal lives nearby and is obviously planning on bringing a huge selection of baking goods to the start/finish line (and I’m away!). Actually, neither reason. It matters not where we start! Chantal is leading once again (Thank you!) and has produced a route that will have you reaching for the sacrificial trail shoes. The route starts out down Islay Street and onto the tarmac surface of Leith Valley Road. Ascending to the end of the tarmac section, the planned route swings up to join Powerline Track via the 3 Peaks (muddy as) route. Leaving Powerline Road, you’ll take the single track to connect to the top of the Leith Saddle Track. From there, it is an undulating cruise along the Swampy Ridge Track back across to the Pineapple Track. Déjà vu, if you’re Dan or Luke, takes over as you descend the Pineapple Track back to the car park. The distance is somewhere around 12 km and some 650 metres of total ascent. So, it’s a great route and plenty of vert once again for dessert. The long range forecast looks great! Headlamps proved necessary on the descent down the Pineapple last week; maybe pack them! Have fun and I’ll, hopefully, see you all next week! Thanks again Chantal.

View on Strava ↗Nice wee cruise up Powerline to Swampy. Disappointing lack of mud up Morrisons. Great bunch of people with a couple of new faces. Thanks Chantal for leading
