Route Details

Let us end the year on Dunedin's guardian - Cargill. Meet at the top of the motorway (see location) for a different approach! We'll head up the Skyline Track to the Lookout Rocks and onwards (down and up) along the Cloud Forests of Leith Track and forestry roads to the 3 Peaks Track. This route is a little muddy and tricky, but enjoyable. We'll then ascend the track and Cowan Road to Cargill's summit. Returning along the A H Reed Track and Cowan Road to the 3 Peaks Track, we'll descend the 3 Peaks route to Leith Valley Road. Time permitting we'll divert around Sullivans Dam on our way back to the cars. The forecast seems to be changing a little, but at this stage it looks as though any rain will be easing throughout the late afternoon. Come prepared as always. Estimated to be around 12.5 km distance and 600 m of ascent. It's the last outing for 2021. There is no run planned for the following week, so hopefully see you all again on 13th January 2022.

Final Biv run of the year. Pretty slippery ascent up Cargill, quick touch to the trig then back down.
