Route Details

This week it is an extravaganza off Evansdale Glen (see location). Great tracks starting out and finishing along Careys Creek while exploring the wonders of Rongomai and Honeycomb Tracks. Plenty of opportunities for wet feet on this one and, as the gentrified title suggests, plenty of evidence of goats! Meet at Evansdale Glen. From the cars it is just shy of 3 km to the start of Rongomai Track. It doesn't muck about with a steep ascent out of Careys Creek. It continues its upward trajectory, gradually easing off to reach Mountain Road. A very brief stint on the road is over before it begins, as we turn down the Honeycomb Track. This has a more undulating course near the top, before it begins a steep descent through bush to Careys Creek. It is simply then a matter of approx. 4 km down the Creek and back to the cars. I'm estimating somewhere around 11 km for this outing with about 400 m of total ascent. The track is a bit less manicured than others and the gradients are sharpish in places. There is an option to take a shortcut near the top of Rongomai, connecting to Honeycomb, if time was against us. Come prepared as always (extra clothing, water). Message below if anyone wanting a lift.
