Cargill is calling....

Thursday, 28 January 2021

Start point
End of Hall Rd, Sawyers Bay.

Route Details

She towers over Dunedin and offers much to the trail running fraternity. Long-time Biv runner, Harry, couldn't get enough of this peak. Harry has bagged himself a job out of town, so in honour of his time with Biv runners we'll head to the top once more. Harry loved the traditional Bethunes Gully assault; me, not so much! I'm sure he won't mind if we knock on Cargill's back door (I hope). Starting at the end of Hall Road, Sawyers Bay we will take the longer route up via Grahams Bush, the Organ Pipes, Buttars Peak and, finally, the Stairs of Despair. On reaching the summit, it is a simple matter of retracing our steps - with a diversion over Buttars Peak. Estimated distance of 10.7 km and approximately 730 metres of total ascent. Come prepared as always. At this stage it looks as though the temperature will have cooled from earlier in the week. If Alert Levels remain unchanged, message in the discussion if anyone needs a ride.
