Trails
This is worse than a lump of coal from the jolly red fellow. It is time to return to a trail running gem, Powder Ridge. Starting at the Silverstream/ Whakaehu car park there is a gentle 2 km introduction before the serious business begins. There is plenty of bush coverage on this outing, so come rain or shine, it has us covered. Starting sharply, we follow the undulating ridge line up to the junction with Long Ridge (pt 586 on the topographic map). Turning around, we simply retrace our steps back down to the waiting cars. If anyone is thinking of the Three Peaks Plus One, this climb features in the epic route. The approximate distance is 14 km and somewhere around 800 metres of total ascent. It's a pretty wise idea to pack some water and bring a jacket for inclement weather. See you there!
