Route Details

We're heading back to Blueskin Bay this week for the first time in quite a while! Starting from the entrance to the Orokonui Lagoon walk, we'll quickly head on to the recently completed Coastal Connection trail, which winds it's way toward Mopanui and Orokonui Ecosanctuary. From the top, we'll head along Mopanui Road, take a quick detour through the bush to touch the trip atop Mopanui, before following the undulating road beside the predator-proof fence back to the bottom of the hill, finishing up with a quick trot alongside the lagoon back to the start point. In total, we're looking at around 13.5 km and 500 m of vert. The weather looks clear but cool, and it'll be the penultimate run requiring a headlamp this year!!! As it's a bit further from town, please allow sufficient travel time and post in the comments if you need a ride. See you there!

A bit more gravel than mud this week, but cool to finally check out the Coastal Connection. Stunning views from the top of Mopanui just before the light faded
