Areas & Points of Interest
The tide's right, the forecast is, well, ok'ish, so it's time to wake up the sea lions as we head back to Sandfly Bay Meeting at the carpark at the end of Seal Point Road, we'll descend the dunes to the beach, cross Morris Creek, and send it along the beach as we give the local pinnipeds a wide berth. After touching the rocks at the end, we'll begin the leg-burning climb up Sandymount all the way to the trig. It's only a few hundred metres, but the sand adds a certain element of "fun". From the top, we'll make a quick circuit of the headland, stopping at the viewing platform to take in the view over Allens Beach, before heading down Sandymount and Ridge Road and the farm track beside the creek back to the beach, for the final climb back to the start. In total, it'll be just over 11 km with 500 m of vert. Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed on the beach or farm track. Headlamps are essential. As it's a little bit further away from town this week, any transport requests/offers can be posted in the comments.
Run report by Adam
View on Strava ↗Only managed to slightly annoy one sea lion. Slight "navigational challenge" in the first part of the club up Sandymount, but we soon found the trail (thanks Luke). Weirdly warm in parts
