Areas & Points of Interest
This week we'll head a bit further afield, starting our run at the Port Chalmers Golf Club (which is actually in Sawyers Bay). Heading past Rossville Reservoir, we'll take the short but grunty track through the forest up to Cedar Farm road, then onward to the tops of Mt Kettle and Mt Cutten. There are a couple of short scrambles up and down each of these hills, but the views from the top are a great reward, along with the Len Lye sculpture at the top of Mt Cutten. From here, we've finished the majority of the climbing on this route, and we'll head for Mt Cargill Road and the always sweet descent through Graham's Bush, with a final couple of km on the road back to the start. All up, it should be just under 12 km, and a solid 750 m of climbing. The forecast looks good for Thursday. It's getting to that time of year when it's a good idea to bring a (charged) head torch, just in case. Please post any transport requests or offers in the comments.
