Areas & Points of Interest
This loop has been run on numerous occasions by the Biv group and, this week, we'll add another chapter to these glorious outings. Usually there's a bit of mud, a few undulations, and some slightly more technical stuff to traverse. The route is 11 km long and just shy of 500 metres of total ascent. Meeting at the top of the Northern Motorway (see location) (car park entrance off Waitati Valley Road), we'll head along Pipeline Track which eventually becomes Rustlers Ridge Track. Passing through Burns Saddle we head straight up to intersect with the Swampy Summit Track/Road. At the top, we'll take a short detour to take in the views over the Silverpeaks, before backtracking and heading for the microwave transmission tower. The descent route is via Leith Saddle Track; initially quite interesting underfoot before the final couple of km along the beautifully benched lower section takes us back to the start. Transport requests and offers in the discussion tab. Should be good — see you there.

View on Strava ↗Super think most the whole way but nice and still, and not too cold. Legs not playing ball on the way up Rustlers, so used it as an excuse for "practice" with poles. Awesome bomb down the benched track from the Leith Saddle lookout
