Before the dice roll

It's about one month to Silver Stream Spin, so a good time to head back into Silver Stream. There will be no dice rolling on this outing, but there'll be glorious trails, steep ascents and wet feet! Meeting at the Silver Stream car park, just off the junction of Silverstream Valley Rd/Flagstaff-Whare Flat Rd (use this Google Maps reference https://goo.gl/maps/XkFYycVdH1hXFByJ9), we'll head off on a 10.5 km (with some 600 metres of total ascent) jaunt through the gem of Silver Stream. Anyone familiar with this area knows the ascent will be sustained and brutal (hands-on-knees stuff). However, all that goes up, must come down. The descent has some free-flowing running before a sharp descent back to the smooth running that's to be had along Racemans Track. It's getting lighter in the evening, but headlamps essential.
