Route Details

The recent weather has returned Flagstaff/Swampy to their pre winter states with plenty of water lying about and the surface starting to acquire its slick sheen. It’s a busy holiday period, so we’re going to keep this week’s run short and sweet. The weather looks to be running out of precipitation heading into Thursday evening, but come prepared for anything, as large sections of this short circuit are exposed. Meeting at the Bull Ring (see location) we initially descend via road to the start of Possum Busters. We’ll use this track to reach the base of McQuilkans Track. Recently trimmed it is in good nick, but wet. We’ll enjoy the long grind up to Swampy Summit Track before the now familiar transit over Flagstaff and back to the cars. It’s a short outing of approx. 9 km and a mere 380 metres of total ascent. If the weather improves or the voting public decide we could vote on Option B - extending the run to reach Porkies Track. This will increase the distance and total elevation marginally. Come prepared as mentioned above. Headlamps essential!
