Areas & Points of Interest
'Tis the season to be jolly and for the first outing of the season we head back to Evansdale Glen (see location). We had a tremendous outing here in February and I've checked out the tracks and they're in great nick currently. Meeting at Evansdale Glen we'll head out on the Careys Creek Track to the base of Rongimai Track. This then ascends steeply up towards Mountain Road in the Silverpeaks. Nearing the top we'll put in a little loop along the Nature Trail before taking the top section of the Honeycomb Track up to Mountain Road. A very short interlude along Mountain Road has us at the top of Rongimai Track where we'll descend and cut onto the Nature Trail for a second time before descending the Honeycomb Track back to Careys Creek. Turning onto Careys Creek Track we'll enjoy the canter back to Evansdale Glen. Its a great outing and one that we should all enjoy. The ascents and descents up/down Rongimai and Honeycomb Tracks are decent so come prepared with good footwear and energy! There are several crossings of Careys Creek so be prepared for wet feet also. Unfortunately, dogs are prohibited by the local dog control bylaw for the majority of this route. Estimated distance of 12 km and approx. 650-700 m of total ascent. See you there!
