Route Details

Time to visit Signal Hill once again. Tim is leading this one and has decided to take the easy way up and see how many of you can stay on your feet through the more challenging descent. Good luck! Meeting at the corner of Butts Road and Anzac Ave (see location), we'll trundle up Butts Road for flat introduction before switching back-and-forth on the Big Easy ascent. Reaching the Memorial, there is usually a moment for reflection and breath-catching. The route down is more rapid and more technical. Even better, it'll be dark and you're running in torchlight! Leaving the Memorial, we'll follow the Haggis Basher track to The Plateau. Joining the more familiar Telecom Track, we'll complete the rapid descent before returning to our starting point. Come prepared as always for Dunedin's unpredictable weather. Head lamp essential and it might pay to check your income protection/recovery insurance policies cover fast technical trail descents in the dark! Estimates for this outing? I'm guessing somewhere in the 8-9 km range with about 350m of total ascent. Have fun and I'll see you all again the following week. Big thanks to Tim for leading once more.
