Areas & Points of Interest
By popular request (i.e. mine), this week we're heading back to the peninsula. Meeting at the entrance to the Tomahawk Lagoon Reserve (see location), we'll head onto the 41-Peg track, ascending to the Soldiers' Monument. It's then time to hit the asphalt for a necessary slog along Highcliff Road. Depending upon the weather and group votes, we'll either head along to the top of Buskin track for a trip along the cliff tops, or stop short and retreat down Karetai Road. Either way, we'll eventually reach the top of Karetai Track for the fast descent to Smails Beach and another short road section back to the cars. Depending upon which option we choose, the distance will be between 11 - 13.75 km and around 420 to 575 metres of total ascent. Headlamps are essential and bright reflective clothing advisable, as there is a fair bit of road on this route. The weather looks great at this stage, but be sure to pack an extra layer as there are some exposed tracks on this route. See you there!

View on Strava ↗Solid route (if I do say so myself) and great company. Stunning views of boulder beach in the light of the full moon
