Route Details

The tides have aligned to allow another beach run; depending on the weather forecasting service you choose, there may be a little precipitation. Come prepared! It’s time to run the sea lion gauntlet once more! Starting at the end of Seal Point Road, we descend to Sandfly Bay. Hopefully we are met by an uneventful run along a flat, sandy deck before starting the sandy ascent to Sandymount. It’s a good grunt with shifting sand to reach the top. Descending initially on a rocky single track we rapidly meet Sandymount Road and enjoy the downhill on an unsealed road surface. Reaching the junction with Hoopers Inlet Road we have two options. We’ll have a quick chat, time check and weather check here! The extended option takes in another steep ascent via Nyhon Track before returning to Sandymount Road. The more direct option continues up Sandymount Road. Whatever option is taken, we emerge onto Highcliff Road for a final gentle climb, then descent to Seal Point Road. The path down Seal Point road is a fast undulating downhill back to the cars. Option A: approx. 10.8 km and 560 metres of total ascent. Option B: approx. 13.5 km and 680 metres of total ascent. Sounds simple. Shouldn’t cause problems. Cue a disaster 😂. See you at Seal Point Road car park at 6pm Thursday!
