Route Details

This week's run is full of doubles: two Pineapple tracks, two ascents and two descents. The story begins at the base of the Pineapple Track (see location). Heading up the gentle incline of McGouns Track, we turn our intentions to tackling the old Pineapple Track. Emerging onto the more familiar Pineapple Track, we continue to the top and over to the Firebreak Track. Cresting the top of the first climb, we head down Jim Freeman Track to its junction with Possum Busters. This track has a few stream crossings and patches of mud before the junction with McQuilkans Track. Turning up the later, we get to enjoy a few boggy/muddy sections before a sustained climb to the Swampy Summit Track. All that remains is a quick jaunt along to the Pineapple Track and a speedy descent down to our cars. This outing has it all and requires a good level of trail running/hill fitness. The weather forecast looks great at present, but please come prepared with layers. Headlamp essential. Estimated distance of around 11 km and some 600 metres of total ascent. Should be a heap of fun......
