Burn, baby burn! It's time to visit Burns Track again. We've had our Easter eggs and/or enjoyed our recoveries, so it's time to get serious! We'll start at the top of the motorway (see location) and a short excursion along Waitati Valley Road and the Pipeline Track, before turning up Burns Track. We'll follow the track and it's gentle climb and somewhat more vicious undulations to Burns Saddle. Continuing on Burns Track we will hopefully encounter mud, glorious mud before connecting to the Swampy Ridge Track. We grind gradually up the track to connect with the unsealed road along to Swampy Summit. Leaving the Doppler station we reach the top of the Leith Saddle Track. Negotiating the top half of this track, we'll then enjoy the free-flowing descent on the beautifully benched track back to our cars! Disclaimer: There'll be no Easter eggs and sitting around on this one (that should keep someone happy - Harry?). Daylight savings has ended, so head torches are essential. It can be cool on the top of Swampy, so an extra layer of clothing is advisable. Estimated distance of 12 km and 500 metres of total ascent. See you there! Message in the discussion if people require a lift to the start.
